Who We are
The organization Urban Poets started as an open mic event to raise awareness about poverty issues and
homelessness in Atlanta but we decided to start a nonprofit to enrich our community and to ensure that our
efforts are more impactful. Urban Poets host free events, but we ask people to bring donations for people
We are a non-profit art organization that curates various events in metro cities that promote art, music, and literacy. We decided we wanted to enrich our community by hosting free public events. During our events, we try to raise awareness of homelessness. We ask our guests to bring donations like toiletries, socks, and first-aid supplies. We then take those donations to people who are displaced around the metro area.
What we do
We are creating a community for artists to share their work and network with other professionals. Urban Poets offers literacy support for the youth through art programs and workshops. We also offer artist development tools and resources, community activities, and provide music & art entertainment. We provide a space for artist to feel safe and comfortable to indulge in creative expression.
How to get involve
We want to improve the conditions for people facing displacement by providing shelter and
common necessities. Our goal is
to raise $250,000 within two years of fundraising to help purchase a community Arts Center that will act as an
emergency shelter after operation hours.
You can support our initiatives in three major ways: Come to our events, spread the word about our cause, and donate to our Fundraiser. We also accept Vendors and Sponsors. If you would like more information about how to partner with us, please email "firstname.lastname@example.org" or complete the contact form below.
